Disney Kids

Disney... the people trap made by a mouse.
When I was young, Mickey Mouse was the man. I watched every Disney movie that came to movie theaters. When I became a parent, Disney movies were automatically acceptable to watch. It was only when I sat with my children to watch a new DVD I began to notice a pattern. I noticed that in the majority of the movies for young children was about rebelling against the grain or morals of the parent or culture.
Now my children want to watch shows such as "Hannah Montana" and "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody". These shows emphasize rebelling against your parents or those in authority because its fun.
From as far back as "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", Disney has minimized the intellect of the parent which further justifies why children should not do what their parents say. Of course parents do not have good reasons for having such rules. They watch these children on television who do not have consequences for sneaking out at night, or lying to their parents.
I have the luxury of not only having six children of my own, but I am also a director of a preschool which has a 6 to 6 program. These children have no respect for authority. They will mouth off and hit a teacher just as fast as they would their own parents.
If you want to see a change in your child's behavior turn off the Disney and minimize time spent with Disney addicted friends. Disney reminds me of a joke I was told, "There are mouse traps made by people to trap mice. Then there is Disneyland, a trap made by a mouse to trap people."
